College and Tourettes

College: a time of uncertainty, fun, learning, and new beginnings. For students with tourettes and tic disorders, this transition may seem a little scarier than usual because of the thought of leaving a place of comfort to throw oneself into a world beyond what one may know best. The following resources are meant to be a guide in helping students, and families have pieces of advice and guidance in this transition into college in the future.

Teens With Tourettes

The teenage years can be tough, especially with the growing social and emotional expectations of being a teenager. But for those with TS or tic disorders, being a teen does not need to be any harder than those without. Hearing others’ stories can help in the process of understanding that you are never alone.

Tik Tok Tics

In an era of increasing technology and social media use, a new phenomenon has taken the world by storm: functional neurological disorder, also called “Tik Tok Tics.” This video, led by two Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorder experts, discusses the similarities and differences between TS and FND, as well as gives advice to those who are experiencing tics.
